Allerdale is a non-metropolitan district of Cumbria, with borough status. Its council is based in Workington and the borough has a population of 96,422 at the 2011 Census.
Cumbria County Council was formed in 1974, when the administrative counties of Cumberland and Westmorland and the county borough of Carlisle were abolished and the areas they covered were combined with parts of Lancashire and the West Riding of Yorkshire to form a new non-metropolitan county.
The ward of Silloth and Solway Coast encompasses Silloth Town Council and the civil parishes of Holme Low, Holme Abbey, Holme St Cuthbert, Allonby, Hayton and Mealo and Oughterside and Allonby.
