Building on our foundations
Allerdale has long been a nursery for world-class sportspeople, it will be one of our priorities to ensure that our youth have access to training facilities.
We have found ourselves in a situation where some parts of the borough have great, community-led sports facilities, while other areas suffer through a lack of them.
Some of our youth teams have to go outside of the borough to find training facilities, and it's simply not acceptable.
As part part of our desire to develop our youth sports, build sustainable communities and to tackle social exclusion, we will invest in sports training facilities that enable our young sports people to thrive and to grow.
Our new community support officers, alongside our sport development officers, will work with and support national sports associations, parish and town councils and community organisations, to enable our local youth sports teams to access funding, plan for the future and to ensure that they reach their full potential.
