
Parliamentary elections are normally held every five years.
Elections to the borough council are held every four years with 49 councillors being elected from 23 wards.
Elections to the county council are held every four years,in the middle of the Allerdale Borough Council term, with 84 councillors being elected from 84 divisions. 16 of those divisions are wholly or partly in the Workington constituency.
Council by-elections to fill casual vacancies arising from resignations, disqualification or the death of a Councillor are held as and when necessary.
